Bold and Beautiful Dining Room

Project Overview:

In the dining room, he had already added the navy grasscloth wallcovering and purchased the contemporary green and ivory dining chairs and lighting. The cottage style white table and mirrored sideboard were from a past life. They needed to go. He requested a table and sideboard for the dining room that were high quality, yet casual. The bare windows called for window treatments to soften the edges of and make the space more inviting. A spectacular piece of art could be the perfect thing to enliven and unify the spaces. A new rug would complete the look. And what about accessories?

The New Space:

First of all , he fell in love with the extraordinary handcrafted cherry trestle table and sideboard, that are reminiscent of Yakashima’s amazing designs. These pieces reflect the quality, warmth and style that would set the tone throughout his home. The lines of casual hand woven rug and embroidered linen drapery are consistent with those of the furniture and the patterns enliven the dining area. The “piece de resistance” is the wonderful abstract landscape by local artist, Georganna Lenssen. Not only does it unify the color scheme, but it also opens up the room to the beautiful world beyond.
