How We Work


Decorating Den Interiors brings a half a century of residential design experience to our clients. No project is too big or too small. Each appointment offers an opportunity to get to know you, your preferences and your lifestyle. Since appointments take place in your home, Deborah will be able to help you to coordinate your selections with your color scheme and furnishings: a huge time saver for you, so you don’t have to go from store to store! Affiliated with over 150 suppliers, resources and manufacturers, and a winner of multiple awards, Deborah finds just the right fit for your aesthetic and functional expectations. She’ll bring all of the samples to you, so that you can see how it all works together. Let’s get started!

Initial Consultation

We will briefly tour your home and review my portfolio of completed projects. Then we will discuss your personal goals and then assess your home in light of this input. I will then collaborate with you to develop an action plan. We may identify various stages that suit your changing needs.

I will offer an estimated price range for the initial project and we will agree upon a target budget.

If we agree that we are compatible, we will sign a letter of agreement and I will ask for a retainer of 5% of the agreed target budget (for example if $5,000, then $250) in order to prepare the design presentation. At this point, I will measure and take photos of your space.

Design Presentation

A week to 10 days later, I will return with creative design solutions to satisfy the goals that we have discussed. We will begin with an overall plan.

I will present 3-5 options within each category of furnishings, along with fabric and finish options, as needed. We may opt to select a new wall color to coordinate with the scheme.

Once we’ve confirmed the scheme, I will prepare a written quote.This will incorporate the cost of taxes, shipping, delivery, installation. Upon receipt of a 70% down payment, your orders will be placed.

I will take care of overseeing the design process and communicate aspects that require your involvement such as scheduling painting (if required), delivery and installation dates.

Professional Interior Design Services

The Big Reveal

This is the day that you’ve been waiting for when it all comes together! I’ll encourage you to spend a few hours out while my team will be busy making sure that everything is “just so”- down to towels folded and flowers in vases.

Once your fabulous new surroundings are complete, I’ll invite you to return and take in the transformation. We’ll have a final review and the final 30% balance will be due.
