The Artful Home

You missed my gallery talk entitled” The Artful Home” at Church Street Gallery in West Chester?!

Let me fill you in…

As an interior designer, I draw upon my understanding of art and insight into what makes each individual unique to curate spaces that tell their stories.

And now it’s storytime.

Let’s begin with this romantic brownstone project. Collecting art was one of this newlywed couple’s favorite pastimes. One of the first things we did on the initial site visit was to place the art. In the following months, we crafted the decor to compliment it and their colorful personalities.

Living Room

Let’s begin with their parlor…

The bold and whimsical art above the mantel reflects my client’s badass personality as an executive with Verizon. A treasured drawing by Picasso is showcased between the front windows. Elegant tufted velvet loveseats, a dramatic area rug and stately bar cabinet are perfectly suited to the aesthetic of this artful space. Thoughtfully curated accessories offer just the right balance of refinement, sparkle and whimsy.

Dining Room

The dining room boasts a signed Warhol and a pair of Keith Haring Drawings. The cherry red walls, damask wallpaper, fabulous Kate Spade rug, elegant dining chairs and table complete the decor.

Hallway

The rainbow colors of this striking Tarkay watercolor are balanced out by the iconic Schumacher Chain Mai Dragon wallpaper opposite – perfect for 2024, the year of the dragon!

Den

The design of this den was inspired by the huge painting that the couple purchased on their honeymoon in Capri. The grasscloth wallcovering imparts a soft glow, like the grotto in the painting. A curved blue leather Chesterfield sofa and contrasting swivel chairs mirror the gorgeous Mediterranean waters. The rich indigo and gold rug pull the color scheme together and ground the space.

Home Office

Award Winning Home Office Design

This home office for the lady of the house has an energetic feminine vibe that is created by the contrast of the glam Tiffany blue walls with white accents and pops of pink. The graphic pop art, photography, colorful oil painting and Jonathan Adler pieces give you clues that she is a fashionista with a great affection for “the City of Brotherly Love”.

As you can see, art has the power to express your unique personality like no other element of your decor. Whether integrating your beloved collection or guiding you to the work of local artists that will tell your story I welcome the opportunity to be your guide.
