Bedroom Furniture and Layout: How to switch things up

Whether you’re taking calls from home these days or you’re finally getting back into an office work schedule, we can all agree that the bedroom is the ultimate relaxation station after putting those hours in. The master bedroom can be considered your own personal haven at the end of the day; a place to retreat, cozy up with your significant other and catch up on your z’s. That’s why making it a warm, comfortable and inviting living space is essential.

If it’s been more difficult to unwind in your bedroom after a long day, perhaps it’s time to switch things up. Making changes to the foundation of the space with a new design layout, as well as paying attention to the small details in decor, can make a big difference in the way the room looks — and more importantly, how you feel.

Ready to change it up? Here are a few suggestions for revamping your master bedroom:

1. Try a new furniture layout
Your bedroom furniture doesn’t have to be pushed up against the wall; this may be a traditional or popular option, but it leaves the center of the room bare. Instead of stuffing the bed into the corner, for example, place it adjacent to the middle of the longest wall and make your sleeping space the focal point. You can also place a bench or chest at the foot of the bed for another layer of sophistication.

Changing up your furniture layout can also inspire you to move around existing accessories or invest in new ones. Remember, however: The bedroom is a place of relaxation, free of distraction. Too many trinkets and pieces of decor can clutter the space in an instant and make your new layout questionable and crowded.

2. Upgrade your bedding based on the season
When was the last time you invested in a new comforter, pillow shams and throw blankets to decorate the bed? Many people fall in love with one set of bedding and have no desire to upgrade it on a regular basis. However, if you really want to mix things up and refresh your bedroom multiple times throughout the year, you can upgrade your bedding so it flows with the season.

In the fall and winter months, you can opt for flannel sheets and heavy a bed topping for maximum warmth. In the spring and summer, you can exchange the bulky bedding for something that’s more light and airy. The warmer months may also inspire brighter hues —  blush pink, combined with white and taupe makes a gorgeous color schemes, as suggested by Good Housekeeping.

3. Drapery adds romance to your most intimate space.

Soft billowy drapery panels with custom details like trim or border banding give your bedroom a distinctive look for you -and yours – alone to enjoy.
